Who We Are

A land of peace, of a people bold and proud, of a people never conquered by foreign forces. A land that totally  rejected imperial power of the Nupe, never conquered in any war. A land of beauty, of rich cultural heritage, of music and dance, of hills, streams and mountains.

According to oral tradition, 3 brothers left Ile-Ife and arrived in Ijumuland. They however parted way at a point called "Iya," which means, "point of parting." The eldest founded Gbedde, the next  Adde and the youngest went to settle in Ogidi.

At Ogidi, small settlements grew up around three strong men from which the three clans of Ona, Otun and Ohi evolved . Click here to read more about the history of Ogidi-Ela and its people. Click here to read more. Clich here to read about the beginning of the modern day Ogidi

Awa omo Ogidi

Ka ma se sun lo
T'a ba tile subu, E je ka mura
Lagbara Olorun, Ogidi yio dide
We the peole of Ogidi
We must buckle up
Time is running out
Even if we fall, we must brace up
By the grace of God, Ogid shall rise again
